If you are lucky enough to have a pet then you know they become a family member. And what's better then having family members to care and love you unconditionally. Recently I got Baylee, a Shih Tzu, four month old pup. I got him as a companion once I retire and so glad I didn't wait till then. All ready he has made a great difference in my life. I am doing more walking, feel more relaxed and he is like a little heating pad. I really never thought much of him being a heating pad, I just know it feels good when he snuggles next to my arm.
Then I found a website called Paws For Comfort, dogs are raise to act as heating pads and traction for pain suffers. The lady who started the site has fibromyalgia herself. Check it out at www.pawsforcomfort.com/site/node/32 most will be able to relate to the story.
It has been proven that animals can help with depression, high blood pressure and even loneliness. Remember too, they can keep a secret. Many animals now work as therapy animals, that are taken by their owners to long term homes, hospitals and retirement homes. Even large animals such as horses have been used in therapy for the physically and mentally disabled.
Until next time check out animal therapy and next post will take a closer look at holistic medicine and other therapies for pain.

It Is Here
Wanted to say thanks to Karen, for taking the time to view my goofs. Thanks, happy to have the critique. By the way get well soon too.
Might have over done it today, I am so exhausted. Really sore after walking around the park looking for a letter box. Had to stop and stretch out on the lawn. We never did find one, but will try it another day with a compass. For those wondering what a letter box is, check out (www.letterboxing.org) Great exercise and fun while your mind is wrapped up in finding the box.
Anyone with fibromyalgia knows if you over do even simple tasks you may pay for it later. At the time you may feel pretty good doing an activity then three days later it may hit you. If you can't figure out why you feel like a truck ran over you, think back a couple of days. This is a delayed reaction from your muscles. No one seems to know why but if you listen to your body, you may find such patterns.
Walking can be the best activity for fibromyalgia suffers. When walking , try deep breathing, it helps the muscles get rid of toxins and make sure you have plenty of water to drink. If you tire or muscles start hurting, just stop and rest then continue on.

Fight the Fibro Monster, It Is Real
Out of darkness it was born, feeding from the life force of our soul.
A syndrome of different names, muscular rheumatism, fibrositis and pain.
"Been around for a while" they say.
For the sleeping prophet saw it in his dreams.
We must gather our arsenals, merge as one, stand tall in-spite of our pain even our loss.
For doctor, family or foe can not fight a battle they do not know.
We must rise as one join our minds, not to dwell on weakened times,
But fight this monster with knowledge, yours and mine.
A little mellow dramatic there, couldn't help it. What I am saying is FM has been around for a while. Symptoms of a weakened body are worsened by our own environment, be it food, medications or possibly hormones. Doctors are at lost helping most of us, or we are belittled as crazies. If we put our minds to it and start the pot cooking we might come up with a great recipe to cook this monster.
The coals are hot and ready.
Fell free to post comments and any information that you think will help in fighting fibromyalgia.
I have started the web pages I promised which will be published shortly. The address is----
